Directed by Daniel Fish, the William Shakespeare tragedy will star Rob Campbell, who won an Obie Award for his performance in Playwrights Horizons' Small Tragedy, in the title role of the young man haunted by his father's death. The production will also feature Michael Emerson (Claudius), Stephanie Roth Haberle (Gertrude), David Margulies (Polonius), Jesse J. Perez (Laertes), Carrie Preston (Ophelia), Haynes Thigpen (Horatio) and Frank Wood (Player/Fortinbras). Hamlet will begin previews at the New Jersey theatre May 3 and will officially open May 11. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through June 19.
This production of Hamlet, according to press notes, has been "compellingly re-imagined for eight actors and the intimacy of McCarter's Berlind stage." The creative team comprises John Conklin (set design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Scott Zielinski (lighting design), Darron West (sound design), Polly Pen (composer), J. Steven White (fight director) and Peter Pucci (movement).
