Last chance to catch the Willow Cabin Theatre Company's revival of its popular holiday show, a musical adaptation of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales. The return engagement opened Dec. 13 for ten performances through Dec. 23.
The show is an adaptation of Thomas' memoirs of his boyhood in Swansea, Wales, based on his recollections of family gatherings at Christmas time. This family show mixes the quiet scenes and subtle humor of Thomas with music.
The show, adapted for the stage by Jeremy Brooks and Adrian Mitchell, will be directed by artistic director Edward Berkeley. An ensemble of 23 actors perform in "A Child's Christmas," many of whom are Willow Cabin company members, including Larry Gleason, Cynthia Besteman, and Joel Van Liew. The design team includes sets by Emmy Award-winner John Kasarda, costumes by Dede Pochos and lighting by Matthew McCarthy. The company is best known for transferring its trio of Thornton Wilder one acts, Wilder, Wilder, Wilder from Off-Off-Broadway to Broadway's Circle in the Square.
A Child's Christmas in Wales runs Dec. 13-23 at the ArcLight Theatre. All tickets are $15. For information and reservations, please call (212) 886-1889, or send an e-mail with a request for a ticket form to [email protected].
