News Odyssey Will Be Taking Sides in L.A., July 22-Sept. 17 Taking Sides, Ronald Harwood's dramatization of the postwar interrogation of controversial German conductor Wilhelm Furtwangler by Allied personnel, will open July 22 (after previews starting July 19) at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble for a run through Sept. 17. An L.A. premiere, the play is directed by the OTE's artistic director, Ron Sossi, and features an ensemble cast of Roy Abramsohn, Sam Anderson, Diana Cignani, Leland Crooke, Tony Goodstone and Nichole Pelerine.

Taking Sides, Ronald Harwood's dramatization of the postwar interrogation of controversial German conductor Wilhelm Furtwangler by Allied personnel, will open July 22 (after previews starting July 19) at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble for a run through Sept. 17. An L.A. premiere, the play is directed by the OTE's artistic director, Ron Sossi, and features an ensemble cast of Roy Abramsohn, Sam Anderson, Diana Cignani, Leland Crooke, Tony Goodstone and Nichole Pelerine. Taking Sides premiered in Chichester, England, in the summer of 1995 with Harold Pinter as director. It ran on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and has also been produced in Krakow, Poland. Harwood was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1934, but he moved to Britain in 1951. He is best known for his backstage drama, The Dresser, which became a motion picture starring Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located at 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd. There will be Pay What You Can Performances on Aug. 10, 20 and Sept. 8. No performance Wed. July 26. For tickets and information call (310) 477-2055.
