News Off-Broadway's My Name Is Asher Lev Sets September Closing Date My Name Is Asher Lev will conclude its critically acclaimed run at The Westside Theatre Sept. 1. The production, which began performances Nov. 8, 2012, will have played 341 performances.

Currently, talks are underway for productions of Asher Lev in Los Angeles, Chicago and London, among others.

The New York cast currently features Ari Brand, who plays Asher Lev, with Mark Nelson and Jenny Bacon.

My Name Is Asher Lev, which is based on the best-selling novel by Chaim Potok, features direction by Gordon Edelstein. The production also has set design by Eugene Lee, lighting design by James F. Ingalls, costume design by Ilona Somogyi and original music/sound design by John Gromada.

Set in post-war Brooklyn, My Name Is Asher Lev, according to press notes, "tells the coming-of-age story of a boy prodigy who must be an artist at any cost -- against the will of family, community and tradition. It is the powerful telling of a young artist with a universal theme to follow our passion – against everything."
