News Off-Bway's Atlantic Theater Offers New Short Plays, On a Theme of "Chance," at Its New Black Box May 17-22 Atlantic Theater Company is presenting a new collection of short plays May 17-22 under the umbrella title "New Works: Chance," a week-long run of pieces written specifically for presentation in Atlantic 453, the Off Broadway troupe's new black-box space on West 16th Street.

Writers were asked to adhere to strict guidelines and given the theme of "chance." According to the announcement, "Remaining true to the Atlantic aesthetic, the focus is placed on telling the story of the play truthfully and with simplicity."

The "New Works" company is made up of Atlantic ensemble members, alumni and guest artists. The writers of the "Chance" week are Michael Dowling, Jerome Hairston, Jordan Lage, Scott Organ and Kate Moira Ryan, directed by Ian Morgan, Scott Organ, Anya Saffir,Gary Upton Schwartz and Sarah Stern.

Appearing are Kate Blumberg, Jason Cornwell, Gretchen Egolf, Susan Finch, Christopher Innvar, Maggie Kiley, DeAnna Lenhart, Adam Lustick, Jenny Maguire, Greg Stuhr, Ray Anthony Thomas and Charles Tucker. Original music is by Matthew Puckett.

Performances are May 17-22 at 7:30 PM at The Atlantic Theater Company's Atlantic 453 space, 453 West 16th Street (between Ninth and Tenth Avenues).
