The Off-Broadway company The New Group will present the American premiere of British playwright and screenwriter Philip Ridley's The Fastest Clock in the Universe at New York's Intar Theatre. The production will begin performances on April 28 for a May 7 opening.

New Group Associate Artistic Director Jo Bonney, best known for her work with solo artists Eric Bogosian and Danny Hoch, will direct. Bonney staged The Flatted Fifth for The New Group last year.

Clock, a comedy about vanity and youth obsession, tells the story of the 30-and-terrified-about-it Cougar, who invites to his birthday party a youth to seduce.

Ridley penned the screenplays to the films The Krays and The Reflecting Skin. His plays include The Pitchfork Disney and Apocalyptica.
