William Sanders directs and choreographs the true-life musical that has a book by Genesius artistic director L. J. Fecho and music and lyrics by Goodspeed Opera House resident musical director and original Genesius co-founder Michael O'Flaherty. Genesius will run Aug. 26-Sept. 13.
The new musical is based on Jane Simmon Miller, who co-founded the Genesius Theatre in Reading, PA in 1971. Genesius, according to press notes, "tells the story of one woman's passion for love, for theatre, and for the opportunity to be onstage. This new musical touches on the universal themes of reaching out and giving back while pursuing one's own dreams."
Beth Glover, who starred in the TheatreWorks production of Grey Gardens, will portray Miller, in a cast that also features Paul Carlin, Danny Gardner (42nd Street), Benjamin Howes ([title of show]), Melisa Klausne, Ryan Mikita, Ardis Barrow, Emilie Battle, Cameron Bautsch, Johannah Giron, Lannon Killea, Rebecca Leigh, Lauren Lukacek, Meagan MacLeod, Nick Mannix, Dane Reis and Kit Treece.
Genesius will have set design by Rod Snyder; lighting design by David Neel, Spencer M. Fecho and L J Fecho; sound design by David Neel; with costume design by Mary Anne Kelly and Heather Wight.
