LOS ANGELES - David Mamet's Oleanna has been seen in several local productions in recent years, but that isn't stopping 3rd Street Theatre from reviving the drama. It will open Oct. 19 and run through Nov. 25, with a Lincoln Center Directors' Lab alum, Ernest A. Figueroa, directing. Starring in the two-hander are Ariel Zevon and Miguel Perez.

Mamet's morality tale was first produced in Cambridge, MA, in 1992. Some critics have called it an anti-feminist tract, but Figueroa says his production will challenge audiences to take another look at how interpretation and meaning change with the culture and times.

Figueroa has served as associate artistic director of the Sacramento Theatre Company and recently produced the inaugural L.A. session of Lincoln Center Directors' Lab-West.

Other Mamet plays include American Buffalo and The Cryptogram.

3rd Street Theatre is located at 8140 West 3rd St. For tickets and information call (323) 957-4312.
