News On a Shoestring Budget, NYC's Musicals Tonight! Serves Porter, Kern, Rodgers, Hart in 2003-04 Musicals Tonight!, the scrappy downtown troupe that stages intimate concert versions of obscure and classic musicals, will present works by Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, Hugh Martin and the Gershwins in its 2003-04 season.

Artistic director Mel Miller said dates for his series next season at the 14th Street YMHA in Manhattan will be announced this summer, but his lineup includes the North American premieres of the Gershwins' Primrose (seen in London in 1924) and Hugh Martin's Love From Judy (seen in London in 1952). The latter is a "Daddy Long Legs"-style yarn about an orphan who falls in love with her benefactor. Also on the slate are Jerome Kern's 1917 show, Have a Heart, Cole Porter's The Gay Divorce (1932), Rodgers and Hart's The Girlfriend (1926). Miller said he is pursuing Kander and Ebb's The Happy Time, as well. His wish list for coming seasons includes Cabin in the Sky.
