The key role of Ti Moune (which made LaChanze a star in the original Broadway production) will be played by Kenita Miller.

Carey Brown will be Andrea; Kena Dorsey ( A Funny Thing....Forum) will be Mama; Monique Midgette (Seussical) is Erzulie, Goddess of Love; Josh Tower (Ragtime) will play Daniel; Dathan Williams (Show Boat) essays Tonton; Alan Greene will be Agwe; Kevyn Morrow plays Papa Ge; and Soara Joye Ross takes on the role of Asaka, Mother of the Earth.

With book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, Once on This Island was received well on Broadway in the late '80s. The Caribbean-themed musical, which preceded Ahrens and Flaherty's Tony-winning hit Ragtime, involves an island girl who falls in love with a man from "the other side of the island."

Once on This Island is based on Rosa Guy's novel, "My Love, My Love."
