The festival will include the world premiere of six plays as well as the dedication of Theatre Three's Second Stage as The Ronald F. Peierls Theatre. Peierls, who passed away in August, was a long-time director at Theatre Three and also served on the company's board of directors. This year's world premiere plays were selected from more than 250 worldwide submissions. Those chosen include Charles Lupia's The Agony and the Experts, David Fleisher's Dead On, S. W. Senek's Making Room, Robert Simonson's Napkin, Mark Cofta's Markings and Maurice Martin's The Sound of One Hand Typing. Jeffrey Sanzel directs.
Two of this year's playwrights have contributed three other plays to previous festivals. David Fleisher's contributions include Order, Funeral Arrangements and Sons and Mothers. This year's Dead On is a dark comedy about blind dates. And, Playbill On-Line Editor Robert Simonson's Some Friend, Which One's Yours? and Emotional Correctness have all been mounted at the festival. His entry this year, Napkin, concerns the effects of one person's dementia on an entire family.
