As Far As My Fingertips Take Me

As Far As My Fingertips Take Me, the intimate new theatre experience, will begin its one-on-one performances January 16 at Washington, D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

Tania El Khoury, a performance artist whose works revolve around ethics and politics of performer-audience relationships, commissioned Basel Zaraa, a musician, street artist, and Syrian-born refugee, to create a rap recording inspired by his sisters' journey from Damascus to Sweden. Khoury designed the performance, which features audience-performer interaction, around the music. It focuses on refugee and border discrimination.

One-on-one performances, scheduled for every 15 minutes within specific intervals, will end February 3. Single tickets will be sold via a weekly lottery.

The production—produced by Woolly Mammoth in association with the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics and the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University—was commissioned by the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) in 2016 in partnership with the Royal Court Theatre in London and is made possible by the Share Fund.
