News O'Neill Cabaret and Performance Conference Begins Aug. 4 The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center's Cabaret and Performance Conference, featuring performances by Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams, Tony nominees Penny Fuller and Anita Gillette, and Brent Barrett, begins Aug. 4 in Waterford CT.

Michael Bush serves as artistic director for the conference that will present public performances through Aug. 14.

Uggams is set to perform Uptown Downtown, conceived and directed by Bush, Aug. 5; and Fuller joins Gillette for the world premiere of Sin Twisters Aug. 6.

Also scheduled are jazz singer and bassist Nicki Parrot, who will perform Peggy Lee Big Instruments and Other Weapons of Mass Distraction Aug. 10; and Barrett, who will present his own solo show Aug. 11.

The O'Neill Cabaret Fellows will perform on Aug. 7 and 12; The O’Neill Follies and Picnic, featuring Ellen Harris, Aja Nisenson, Jay Rogers, and Lois Robbins, will be offered on Aug. 8; and Stoned Soul Picnic: The Songs of Laura Nyro will be presented Aug. 13. The Grand Finale Cabaret will take place Aug. 14.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center was founded in 1964 and is based in Waterford, CT. Programs at the Center include the Puppetry Conference, Playwrights Conference, Critics Institute, Music Theater Conference and the National Theater Institute. The Monte Cristo Cottage, O'Neill's childhood home, is also owned and operated by the group.
