News Ontario's Theatre & Company Wins $10,000 Grant from Arts Council In a province where government cutbacks for the arts have become the norm, Theatre & Company in Kitchener, Ontario has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Ontario Arts Council.

In a province where government cutbacks for the arts have become the norm, Theatre & Company in Kitchener, Ontario has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Ontario Arts Council. "Times are tough for the arts in Ontario," said Stuart Scadron-Wattles, artistic director. "The OAC has posted a 40 percent loss over the past 18 months. To have the OAC give us a grant of this maginitude is an hnour, and a recognition by the province of the contribution Theatre & Company is making to the region."

The 1997-98 season includes: The Clearing by Helen Edmundson (a Canadian premiere); Some Assembly Required by Eugene Stickland; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, from C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia"; Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett; Shadowlands by William Nicholson. The season runs from September to April. Box office: (519) 571-0928.
