The forthcoming remake of A Star Is Born, which was scheduled to open September 28, 2018, will now arrive in cinemas May 18, 2018, according to Variety.
Directed by Bradley Cooper, who co-stars with Lady Gaga, the Warner Bros. film—about an on-the-rise singer who falls in love with an aging country music star—is written by Eric Roth. The film will feature new songs written by Gaga.
The cast also includes Andrew Dice Clay, Anthony Ramos, and Sam Elliott. Producers include Cooper, Billy Gerber, Todd Phillips, Lynette Howell Tayor, and Jon Peters; Basil Iwanyk is the executive producer.
The project was confirmed in August 2016 following a long-term development process, which at one point included the potential casting of Beyoncé in the title role.
The original 1937 film A Star Is Born was co-written by Dorothy Parker and Alan Campbell, and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. It was remade in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland, then remade again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.
