The Bosnian National Opera premiered Srebrenicanke ("The Srebrenica Women"), a work about the slaughter of Bosnian Muslims, on Friday, October 15, the Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports.

The opera, by composer Ivan Cavlovic with a libretto by Gojko Bjelac, consists of 11 scenes based on impressions of the 1992-95 genocide and of the World War II Holocaust. It was dedicated to victims of terrorism everywhere.

About 300 people attended the premiere at the Sarajevo National Theatre and Opera House. The proceeds from opening night were sent to families whose children were killed when gunmen seized a school in Beslan, Russia, last month.
