PlayBlog   Opera Singer Rosalind Elias Talks About Her Broadway Debut in Follies (Video) Acclaimed opera singer, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Rosalind Elias is currently making her Broadway debut in Follies, where she plays the role of Heidi Schiller; the production officially opens Sept. 12 at the Marquis Theatre.


Elias joins two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters (Sally Durant Plummer), four-time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell (Phyllis Rogers Stone), two-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein (Buddy Plummer) and three-time Emmy Award nominee Ron Raines (Benjamin Stone), who lead the cast of the Broadway revival, which began previews Aug. 7, following a successful run at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in DC.

Here, Elias sits down with WPIX host Tamsen Fadal to talk about her career and the journey to her first opening night on Broadway. WPIX also offers a sneak peek at the Follies revival as well as a glimpse into Elias' opera career.

Elias made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Grimgerde in Die Walküre in February 1954. Her other opera credits include Bersi in Andrea Chénier, the title role in Carmen, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Laura in La Gioconda, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Siebel in Faust, Nancy in Martha and Amneris in Aida, among others.
