Producers Scott Benson, Jamie Bendell (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder) and Scott Prisand (Rock of Ages) of Big Block Entertainment announced Aug. 12 that they are working to shepherd the new play to Broadway next year. A Family Thing had a 2013 world premiere in Los Angeles.

According to producers, "Three estranged brothers – once bound by a childhood in turmoil on the streets of Hell's Kitchen – reunite to settle unfinished business. A Family Thing is a darkly funny, brutal and heartbreaking exploration of the way family binds us together and tears us apart."

Lennon's plays include Blackout, .45 and The Interlopers. Blackout, which was adapted and directed by Lennon for film as "Drunks," starred Richard Lewis, Faye Dunaway Parker Posey and Diane Weist. The film version of .45, which Lennon also directed, starred Mila Jovovich, Stephen Dorf and Aisha Tyler. Lennon earned a Peabody Award, as well as an Emmy Award nomination and WGA nomination for his work as producer and writer for "Orange Is the New Black." His credits also include "The Shield," "Justified" and "Power." He is currently at work on a new Showtime drama series to star Robert Downey, Jr.

Complete team, dates and cast for A Family Thing will be announced at a later date.
