Classic Arts News Oregon Symphony Announces 2006-07 Season The Oregon Symphony's 2006-07 lineup features a Mozart tribute with pianist Robert Levin; violinist Itzhak Perlman conducting and performing; and an appearance by Garrison Keillor.
Music director Carlos Kalmar's fourth season will also include the world premiere of Symphony No. 13 by Oregon composer Robert Kyr.

The season opens with Garrick Ohlsson performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto ("Emperor"). Other highlights include violinist Itzhak Perlman conducting the orchestra in Dvoršk's Symphony No. 8, and Garrison Keillor performing his Lake Wobegon monologues.

Kalmar will lead the OS in a tribute to Johann Strauss Jr. and his brother Josef in a concert that also features the company premiere of Stravinsky's Card Game, a ballet in three Deals. The Stravinsky centennial will be marked with performances of the composer's works including Petrouchka and Concerto in D.

Soloists include violinist Leila Josefowicz, percussionist Colin Currie, and cellist Alban Gerhardt; visiting conductors include former music director James DePriest and Bernard Labadie.
