According to Dress Circle, the original London cast recording of the new musical will be released Aug. 15, although the show-business shop already has the title in stock.
Lend Me a Tenor features music by Brad Carroll and lyrics by Peter Sham. The cast includes John Stacey, Gay Soper, Joanna Riding, Cassidy Janson, Michael Matus, Matthew Kelly, Damian Humbley, Sophie-Louise Dann, Jane Quinn and Michelle Bishop.
"It’s 1934, and the world’s greatest tenor Tito Merelli has come to Cleveland, Ohio, to save its Grand Opera Company by singing Otello," according to press notes. "When he is unexpectedly incapacitated, Max, the Opera Director’s meek assistant, is given the daunting task of finding a last-minute replacement. Chaos ensues – including a scheming soprano, a tenor-struck ingénue, a jealous wife and the Cleveland Police department."
