Cabaret & Concert News Original Sweeney Todd Johanna Helps Ring in Father’s Day in NYC Sarah Rice is the featured attraction in Richard Skipper Celebrates—which is going on summer hiatus.

Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Broadway’s Sweeney Todd, will be the special guest of entertainer and host Richard Skipper in the Father’s Day episode of his theatre-themed weekly club series Richard Skipper Celebrates at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City.

The 1 PM June 18 show will celebrate the birthdays of actor Jeanette MacDonald and lyricist Sammy Cahn, and will remember entertainer Peter Allen on the anniversary of his 1992 death. Rice will be joined by baritone Mark Watson, actor-singer David Sabella (first to play Mary Sunshine in the 1996 revival of Chicago), and comedian-singer Warren Schein. A mystery guest is also promised for that day’s show.

Skipper, who has been artist-in-residence at the Beechman for several years, will be taking a summer-long hiatus after this Father's Day show, returning to Richard Skipper Celebrates September 10.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located below The West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42 Street in Manhattan. Tickets cost $30 plus a $20 minimum per person, and can can be ordered online by clicking here.
