In Oscar and the Pink Lady, press notes state, Harris "portrays Oscar, a ten year-old hospital patient, his friends, his family, and Granny Pink, an ancient hospital volunteer, whose wit and compassion transform the lives of those around her. Through her discovery of a series of letters that Oscar, at her suggestion, has written to God, the richness of his imagination and the universe of the children's ward are revealed.
