News Oscar Hammerstein Salute Scheduled for April 2008 at Carnegie Hall The New York Pops will present an evening paying tribute to the late, legendary lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II in 2008.

On April 4, 2008, at Carnegie Hall, the Pops will offer Oscar Hammerstein II: The Song Is You. Part of the New York Pops series, the evening will feature the famed orchestra conducted by David Charles Abell. Soloists and a chorus will be announced at a later date. Show time is 8 PM. According to the Carnegie Hall website, music from Carmen Jones and Show Boat will be the centerpiece of the evening. The concert will also feature songs from Hammerstein's work with composer Richard Rodgers.
