The LaBute work will open at the Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork, Ireland, on Nov. 23. LaBute will also direct his play, which is set to run through Dec. 3. About the upcoming production, Everyman Palace Theatre Artistic Director Patrick Talbot said in a statement, "I know that Cork audiences will extend a very warm welcome to Ed Harris and Neil LaBute, two of the most accomplished theatre and film artists in the world today. It is fitting, as we near the end of our designation as European Capital Of Culture, that we present the world premiere of this exciting new play."
Wreck, according to production notes, "is the story of one man's unique love for his recently deceased wife."
Ed Harris received Academy Award nominations for his performances in "Pollock," "The Hours," "The Truman Show" and "Apollo 13." He recently completed filming the title role in "Copying Beethoven" and can currently be seen in "A History of Violence." The actor has appeared on Broadway in Taking Sides and Precious Sons, earning a Drama Desk Award for his work in the latter. Harris' other stage credits include Fool for Love (Obie Award), Prairie Avenue, Scar, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Grapes of Wrath, Sweet Bird of Youth and Simpatico (Lucille Lortel Award).
