Oscar Winner Dianne Wiest Lands Role in New CBS Comedy Pilot | Playbill

News Oscar Winner Dianne Wiest Lands Role in New CBS Comedy Pilot Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, who can currently be seen Off-Broadway opposite Tony winner Tonya Pinkins in Rasheeda Speaking, has been cast in the new CBS pilot "Life in Pieces," according to Deadline.com.

Wiest will co-star with Zoe Lister Jones, Colin Hanks and Betsy Brandt in the single-camera comedy, which is produced by 20th TV and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment.

Penned by Justin Adler, "Life in Pieces," according to Deadline, concerns "one family as told through the separate stories of its different family members. … [Wiest] plays the matriarch Joan Short, who adores her family and would do absolutely anything for them — as long she agrees with it. Jones plays Greg Short’s (Hanks) wife Jen, a woman used to being in control who now has a baby and finds for the first time she’s not."

A timeline for production has not been announced.

Wiest was most recently on Broadway in the revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons.
