"American Idol" finalist Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar for her performance in the film version of Dreamgirls, performs on the July 4 CBS broadcast "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular."

The entertainment special, which is broadcast live from the Charles River Esplanade, airs on CBS beginning at 10 PM ET; check local listings.

Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Chiklis, star of the new CBS drama series "Vegas," hosts the hour-long special.

Hudson, who will be seen in the upcoming second season of NBC's "Smash," is expected to perform some of her biggest hits with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart.

The program also includes performances by the United States Navy Sea Chanters, cast members from Mamma Mia! and the Dropkick Murphys.

The final 20 minutes of the broadcast will feature a spectacular fireworks display.
