News Oscar Winner Melissa Leo, Caissie Levy and More Showcase World Premiere One-Acts at Planet Connections Gala Oscar winner Melissa Leo, Caissie Levy (Fantine in Les Miserables) and Tony Award nominee Mary Beth Hurt are among the stars taking part in the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala One-Acts for a Cause June 22 at the East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street) at 7:30 PM.

One-Acts for a Cause premieres four one-act plays by Obie winner Israel Horovitz, Wendy MacLeod, Winter Miller and Erik Ehn and the Tenderloin Opera Company.

The director for Horovitz's St. Anne's Soup is Planet Connections co-artistic director Glory Kadigan, for MacLeod's Community Service Moritz von Stuelpnagel, for Miller's Snap! Jessi D. Hill, and for Ehn's Frail/Ingilin Mia Rovegno.

In addition to Leo, Levy and Hurt, casting includes Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening, "Glee"), Jonathan Walker (Rocky), Eric Lenox Abrams (All The Way), Kellie Overbey (The Coast of Utopia), Tina Benko (Top Girls), Andrew Garman (Salome with Al Pacino), Obie winners Russell G. Jones (Ruined) and Eisa Davis (Passing Strange), Courtney Thomas (Emotional Creature), Jon Norman Schneider (The Architecture of Being) and Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Ruined).

The event raises funds for non-profit City Harvest, a New York City food services agency.

The creative team includes Craig Napoliello (scenic design), Christopher Weston (lighting design), Izzy Fields (costume design), Jacob Subotnick (sound design), Gil Sperling (production/video design), Robin Carus (casting director) and Jenna R. Lazare (technical direction/stage management). 

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity is New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival.
