The Northern Broadsides production was first seen at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds in February 2009, and has subsequently been seen on tour in the U.K. Remaining touring dates are at the Rose Theatre, Kingston (April 21-25), Newcastle-under-Lyme's New Vic Theatre and the Viaduct Theatre in Halifax (May 5-10).
The production is directed by Northern Broadsides artistic director Barrie Rutter, who founded the company in 1992.
The company's production of Othello has set design by Ruari Murchison, costume design by Stephen Snell, lighting by Guy Hoare and music by Broadsides' regular Conrad Nelson. The West End run is being produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.
The cast also feautres David Beckford (Duke/Gratiano), Matt Connor (Roderigo), Andy Cryer (Montano), Victoria Gee (Bianca), Jessica Harris (Desdemona), Geoff Leesley (Brabantio), Conrad Nelson (Iago), Chris Pearse (Herald), Simon Holland Roberts (Senator/Lodovico), Sara Poyzer (Emilia) and Richard Standing (Cassio).
