Our Mother's Brief Affair, Starring Linda Lavin, Opens on Broadway Tonight | Playbill

News Our Mother's Brief Affair, Starring Linda Lavin, Opens on Broadway Tonight Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of Our Mother's Brief Affair, penned by Tony-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, officially opens Jan. 20 following previews that began Dec. 28 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Tony winner Linda Lavin heads the cast as matriarch Anna in Greenberg's family drama about love and secrets.

The New York premiere, helmed by Lynne Meadow, also features Kate Arrington (The American Plan), Greg Keller (Wit) and John Procaccino (Art).

Here's how the show is billed: "On the verge of death for the umpteenth time, Anna (Lavin) makes a shocking confession to her grown children: an affair from her past that just might have resonance beyond the family. But how much of what she says is true? While her children try to separate fact from fiction, Anna fights for a legacy she can be proud of. With razor-sharp wit and extraordinary insight, Our Mother’s Brief Affair considers the sweeping, surprising impact of indiscretions both large and small."

The production reunites the playwright with director and MTC artistic director Meadow following their collaboration on The Assembled Parties. The creative team for the production also features Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Tom Broecker (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design) and Fitz Patton (sound design).
