Company, the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical, closes July 16 at Massachusett's Barrington Stage Company June 24. Performances began June 21 with an opening July 16. BSC artistic director Julianne Boyd (Eubie!, A...My Name is Alice) directs.
The Tony Award-winning Company concerns thirty-five-year old bachelor Bobby, who, despite three girlfriends and five mixed-up married couples who are also his best friends, cannot understand his fear of commitment and his fear of marriage.
Robert Bartley stars as Bobby. Bartley most recently played John Brooke in the workshop of Little Women on its way to Broadway this spring. Other credits include Broadway's Miss Saigon (Chris) and Cats) (Rum Tum Tugger).
Alison Bevan plays the oft-married Joanne, singer of the satiric "The Ladies Who Lunch" with Becca Ayers as Marta, the girl who sees "Another Hundred People" pour every day into New York City. Bevan appeared on Broadway as Dora Foster in Steel Pier and Alaura in City of Angels. A Barrington Stage vet, Ayers traveled the country in the recent national tour of Jekyll & Hyde, taking over the lead role, Lucy.
Filling out the cast are Kathryn Kendall (Paper Moon, Jerome Robbin's Broadway) as Sarah, Michael J. Farina as Larry, Christianne Tisdale (Titanic) as Susan, Kurt Ziskie as Peter, Brandy Zarle as Amy, Gary Lindemann as Paul, Marylee Graffeo as Jenny, Larry Cahn as David, Erin Gilliland as April, Pamela Bob as Cathy and David Brummel as Larry. Linda Cholodenko choreographs with Darren R. Cohen as musical director. The design team features John Coyne (sets), Jeff Croiter (lights) and Louisa Thompson (costumes).
