Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie will bring her critically acclaimed Gypsy in My Soul to the Provincetown Theater Sept. 10 at 8 PM. The evening features tunes from A Chorus Line, Gypsy, Follies and Can-Can. About her one-woman evening, McKechnie previously told Playbill.com, "I start the show saying, 'My whole dream as a young dancer in Detroit was to come to New York and be in a Broadway show, and that happened, and then I spent practically the rest of my 40 years in the business on the road.' . . . I recreate all of the roles that I grew up into — like Momma Rose [in Gypsy] and Pistache from Can Can." The golden-voiced Liz Callaway will follow, performing Sept. 17 at 8 PM. An Evening with Liz Callaway will feature a mix of theatre tunes and pop classics from the 1960's; the latter were featured on her solo CD "The Beat Goes On." Concertgoers can expect to hear such songs as "Meadowlark" and "The Story Goes On."
Lee Roy Reams will present his solo show, Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance, Sept. 24. This quintessential song-and-dance man, whose numerous theatre credits include the original cast of Applause and the tour of The Producers, will re-create many of his stage roles for Provincetown audiences.
The following month will see a new comedy by Meryl Cohn. Entitled And Sophie Comes Too, the play will be offered Oct. 8-15. The work answers the question, "How do three grown sisters manage their lives during their bossy mother's latest crisis?"
