Both productions will perform at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts as part of the 2010-2011 Shakespeare Pace season. The Acting Company will make its first stop on the Romeo and Juliet national tour at Pace. The tour, presented in association with The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, will star Kaliswa Brewster as Juliet and Alejandro Rodriguez as Romeo. Penny Metropoulos will direct the timeless, tragic tale of love, family and destiny.
Shakespeare's Globe will return to Pace with director Christopher Luscombe's production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. "With its physical gags, linguistic jokes and vivid characters, this comedy celebrates the foundations of the modern TV sitcom," according to press notes. Luscombe, "once a Shakespeare comic actor himself, takes full advantage of this witty and affable play, directing a production full of irresistible charm—complimented by vibrant designs from Janet Bird and a jaunty score from composer Nigel Hess."
