Classic Arts News Paquito D'Rivera, Bebo Vald_s, David Sšnchez Win at Latin Grammys Paquito D'Rivera's Riberas won the Latin Grammy for best classical album last night, while pianist Bebo Vald_s won in the jazz category for Bebo de Cuba.

The six-year-old awards, an offshoot of the Grammy Awards, were presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night. They include prizes for pop music of various styles and nationalities as well as classical and jazz categories.

D'Rivera won for the third time, having taken home both the classical and jazz awards in 2003.

Vald_s, the 86-year-old father of pianist Chucho Vald_s, resumed his recording career in the 1990s after three decades. Bebo de Cuba is a two-disc set featuring guest appearances by D'Rivera and other stars of Latin jazz.

Jazz saxophonist David Sšnchez won in the instrumental category for his album Coral, which features interpretations of works by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Alberto Ginastera, and others.
