News Pasadena Playhouse Hosts "Conversation With...Suzan-Lori Parks" Nov. 17 Pasadena Playhouse, currently presenting the Suzan-Lori Parks-penned Ray Charles Live!, will offer a talk with the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nov. 17.

Part of the California company's "Conversation With..." series, the Parks event will take place at 1 PM at Pasadena Playhouse.

Iona Morris, assistant director on Ray Charles Live!, moderates the dialogue with the scribe about her journey in creating the new musical.

Parks earned her Pulitzer for Top Dog/Under Dog. Other work include the epic play cycle 365 Days/365 Plays, Fucking A, The American Play and the screenplay "Cabrini Green."

Previous "Conversation With..." programs have featured actress Marlee Matlin (with Open Window), Ruby Dee (Purlie), Vernon Winfrey (Cuttin' Up) and choreographer Patti Colombo (Can-Can).

The world-premiere engagement of Ray Charles Live! began Oct. 31 and opens Nov. 9 at the Playhouse. Artistic director Sheldon Epps stages the production featuring Brandon Victor Dixon (The Color Purple, "One Life to Live") and Nikki Renée Daniels (Les Miserables, Aida, Nine). Tickets to the "Conversation with...
