Pasek and Paul's Early Musical Song Cycle Edges Will Take Shape in Atlanta | Playbill

News Pasek and Paul's Early Musical Song Cycle Edges Will Take Shape in Atlanta Edges, the musical song cycle written by Tony Award nominees Benj Pasek and Justin Paul when they were 19-year-old undergraduates at the University of Michigan, will hit Atlanta for a four-performance engagement this month.

The musical will play 8 PM performances Sept. 18-19 and 25-26 at the newly renovated Lyric Studio Theatre (formerly Theatre In The Square's Alley Stage) in Marietta, GA.

Austin Tijerina, a frequent cast member of the immersive, outdoor productions at Atlanta's Serenbe Playhouse, makes his directorial debut with Edges.

Tijerina also stars alongside Galen Crawley, Jessica De Maria and AJ Klopach. Edges marks the first fully produced production at the Lyric Studio Theatre.

"I am extremely thrilled to be bringing this piece of contemporary musical theatre to the Lyric Studio Theatre. [Artistic director] Brandt Blocker has been an excellent mentor and person to look to for guidance as I make the leap into directing for the very first time," said Tijerina. "This cast, in full voice, will blow you away. It is important to me that Atlanta has a place for contemporary smaller-scale musicals. The Lyric, typically known for its flashy, Broadway-style productions, is taking a huge leap into a new type of theatre, and it is very exciting!"

Pasek and Paul were Tony-nominated for their work on the Broadway musical A Christmas Story. They also wrote the score to Off-Broadway's Dogfight and Dear Evan Hansen, which will come to Off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre in spring 2016.
