Classic Arts News Pat Metheny Trio 2005 Tour to Feature Saxophonist David Sanchez The Pat Metheny Trio will be a quartet for its 2005 tour, the web site JazzTimes reports.
The trio will add saxophonist David Sanchez for its fall tour, which opens on September 7 at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle and runs through November 15.

According to JazzTimes, the set that Metheny and Sanchez played together at the Montreal International Jazz Festival was so compelling that Methany wanted to continue their collaboration.

The tour will feature performances by both the quartet and the trio, which includes Metheny on guitar, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Antonio Sanchez.

Sanchez, whose first album, 2001's Obsession was produced by Branford Marsalis and was nominated for a Grammy, was engaged by Dizzy Gillespie in 1992 to play with his United Nations Orchestra.
