On October 25, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend actor Tovah Feldshuh shared on her Facebook—and Playbill.com confirmed—that she was working on set alongside Tony winner Patti LuPone.
The CW, the show’s host network, says LuPone will guest star on episode 210 (broadcast date TBA) of the series, saying LuPone “will play a pivotal person from Rebecca’s past that she rediscovers when she returns to her hometown for a family celebration.”
For those who haven’t seen the show, Rebecca Bunch is the “crazy ex-girlfriend” who quits her fancy law firm job to move across the country to follow her summer camp boyfriend and teen love.
LuPone was on set shooting with Feldshuh and Bloom October 26. Playbill.com reached out to LuPone who shared, “I’m thrilled to be a part of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It’s joyful, uplifting, smart, and funny. And it’s a musical comedy on TV.”
So how did LuPone get involved in the Emmy-winning series? “My manager happened to be speaking to be speaking to Mark Pedowitz, the president of the CW Network and told him what a big fan I was of the show. He replied ‘I’ll call you back,’ and the next thing I know is I had an offer!”
The cast of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend series regulars already includes theatre veterans like Tony nominee Santino Fontana (Cinderella), Drama Desk winner Donna Lynne Champlin (Working: A Musical) and Vincent Rodriguez III (Here Lies Love).
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs Fridays at 9/8c on The CW.
