News Patti LuPone Will Launch New Manhattan Nightclub 54 Below; Brian Stokes Mitchell, Megan Hilty Also on Roster Tony Award-winning producers Tom Viertel, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Steven Baruch announced Feb. 6 the June 2012 opening of 54 Below, a nightclub and restaurant at 254 West 54th Street, one floor below Studio 54.

Olivier and two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone will open the venue in June with a two-week engagement; other Broadway stars confirmed include Ben Vereen, Brian d'Arcy James, Megan Hilty, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Linda Lavin, Andrea Martin, Rebecca Luker, Julia Murney, Jackie Hoffman, Lea DeLaria, Eden Espinosa, Michael Arden, Tony DeSare and Mx Justin Vivian Bond.

The new venue, according to press notes, "will offer audiences the chance to enjoy first class performers in a stunning and intimate space, enhanced by a premium dining experience."

In addition to providing a home for musical theatre entertainers, 54 Below will house a variety of other offerings, including a series celebrating well-known and rising composers. That series will launch in June and July with Hairspray Tony winner Marc Shaiman.

54 Below is designed by Tony Award winner John Lee Beatty and architect Richard Lewis, lit by Tony Award winner Ken Billington, and with sound by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski. Tony Award winner Scott Wittman will serve as creative consultant, and MAC Award winner Phil Geoffrey Bond will serve as director of programming.

The venue will feature up to three shows nightly and will have audio and video recording capabilities. The capacity is 160. The cover charge will range from $30-$70.

54 Below will also feature “The Green Room” on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after 10 PM when patrons "can enjoy the ambience of a late night lounge with live music, creative cocktails, and small food plates." A schedule of live instrumental music will be announced. There will be no cover charge or drink minimum for “The Green Room.”
