Paul Rhys, whose appearance in Chekhov's Ivanov at the National was announced earlier this month, has had to withdraw from the production owing to a family illness.

Previous theatre roles include Mark Antony in Julius Caesar, Edmund in King Lear and The King of Navarre in Love's Labour's Lost for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The production, directed by Katie Mitchell, will now open at the Cottesloe on Monday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 PM, following preview performances beginning Saturday, Sept. 7.
