News Paula Plum Will Star in Moisés Kaufman's 33 Variations in Boston; Complete Cast Announced The Lyric Stage Company of Boston will present Moisés Kaufman's Tony Award-nominated play 33 Variations beginning Jan. 4, 2013. Paula Plum will star.

Directed by Spiro Veloudos, the limited engagement will continue through Feb. 2, 2013.

Here's how Lyric Stage bills the work: "A mother coming to terms with her daughter. A composer coming to terms with his genius. Separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that transcends the boundaries of time. Moisés Kaufman (The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency) has written an extraordinary play about passion, parenthood, and the moments of beauty that can transform life."

Plum, who will star as Dr. Katherine Brandt, will be joined by James Andreassi as Beethoven, Kelby T. Akin as Mike Clark, Maureen Keiller as Dr. Gertrude Ladenburger, Will McGarrahan as Anton Diabelli, Dakota Shepard as Clara Brandt and Victor L. Shopov as Anton Schindler with pianist Catherine Stornetta.

The creative team will include Cristina Todesco (scenic design), Charles Schoonmaker (costume design), Karen Perlow (lighting design), Brendan Doyle (sound design) and Shawn Boyle (projection design).
