Former Jekyll & Hyde star Linda Eder is a special guest on "The Spirit of America Concert," which airs on PBS' WNET/Thirteen Sept. 13.
Eder joins the singing New York City policeman Daniel Rodriguez for his first television special, which honors the heroes of Sept. 11. Backed by a 40-piece symphony orchestra, tenor Rodriguez will perform a host of Broadway tunes including "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "Into the Fire," "This Is the Moment," "Shenandoah" and the Les Misérables ballad, "Bring Him Home."
Singer-actress Eder is scheduled to perform West Side Story's "Somewhere" and the Frank Wildhorn tune "Gold." Other guests include four time Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, Metropolitan Opera star Aprile Millo and conductor Tom Scott, a 12-time Grammy nominee.
The concert concludes with heroes of Sept. 11 — policeman, firemen and nurses — joining the singers for a stirring version of "America the Beautiful." "The Spirit of America Concert" airs on WNET/Thirteen at 9:30 PM ET. Check local listings.
