Classic Arts News PBS Broadcasts Opera Reality Show Operatunity Operatunity, a television series in which singers without opera experience are coached to sing in an English National Opera performance of Rigoletto, will get its American premiere starting tonight on PBS's Great Performances.
The four-episode series, which was originally broadcast on Channel Four in 2003, starts with the search across England for contestants. Six finalists are chosen, and are coached in the various techniques: vocal, physical, dramatic: necessary for opera performance. Finally, the show follows the two winners through their operatic debut.

Over 2,500 applied to sing in front of a group of opera professionals, in the hopes of being chosen for the show.
