Classic Arts News PBS Great Performances Presents Israel Philharmonic Nov. 21 The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra led by Zubin Mehta will be featured on PBS's Great Performances on November 21 and 22. The concerts were recorded live during the 70th-anniversary celebrations for the orchestra in Tel Aviv.
The broadcast will feature Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and Ravel's La Valse, with soloists Daniel Barenboim and Pinchas Zukerman.

The orchestra's anniversary performances in Tel Aviv constituted a 12-day music festival that included Yefim Bronfman, Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Evgeny Kissin, Radu Lupu, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Gil Shaham and Maxim Vengerov. The celebrations also involved the release of a 12-disc retrospective covering 50 years of the Israel Philharmonic's history; a 13-part series of two-hour radio segments broadcast throughout the U.S. and hosted by Itzhak Perlman; and gala performances in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
