News Peter Filichia Will Chat About New Tome, "Broadway Musical MVPs," at Drama Book Shop Theatre writer-critic Peter Filichia will chat with Ken Bloom about his new book, "Broadway Musical MVPs: 1960-2010 - The Most Valuable Players of the Past 50 Seasons" (Applause Books) Oct. 13 at the Drama Book Shop in Manhattan.

Filichia will also autograph books after the interview, which begins at 6 PM. "Musicals  and baseball have many commonalities: both have runs, hits, and errors; both have cheap seats that aren’t so cheap and overpriced concessions; both have stars with high salaries; and both have awards at the end of the season. But baseball does have what the Tonys, Drama Desk, and Theatre World awards don’t offer: an annual Most Valuable Player award given to the single individual who made the most impact either for his team or on the season. What if musical theatre did choose an MVP? In 'Broadway Musical MVPs,' Peter Filichia takes his best guess who would received the awards for MVP of the year, comeback of the year, rookie of the year, manager of the year, and reliever of the year over the last 50 years," according to press notes.

Drama Book Shop is located in Manhattan at 250 West 40th Street. The event is free and open to the public.
