To Bitter and Back is a day in the life of a guy who has nothing more important to do than buy a pair of shoelaces. With that kind of motivation, it's no wonder he's obsessed with money, family, having a job, television and sex, as he searches for love and success in the big city despite all his unfulfilled wishes. Pevsner wrote Bitter with music and arrangements by the show's musical director Jamie Forsyth (Untitled, Deer in the Headlines), Michael Lavine, Michael Orland (Next, Please!), Michael Skloff (Personals, "I'll Be There For You" from "Friends") and John Boswell.

Randy Brenner directs. Previous credits for the Drama-Logue winner include the one-man show The Only Worse Thing You Could Have Told Me..., which starred Dan Butler and then Greg Louganis and Marry Me a Little at Celebration Theatre.

Larry Sousa designed the sets with lighting by Kathi O'Donohue.

To Bitter and Beyond began performances Feb. 24. Tickets are $20. The Tamarind Theatre is located at 5919 Franklin Avenue. For reservations, call (323) 960-4430. — By Christine Ehren
