News Phantom Gets First Spanish Recording The Mexican premiere production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera is now available on CD. This is the first Spanish-language recording of this musical, which opened in Mexico City in December 1999, and, after 400 performances, closed on Jan. 14, 2001.

The Mexican premiere production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera is now available on CD. This is the first Spanish-language recording of this musical, which opened in Mexico City in December 1999, and, after 400 performances, closed on Jan. 14, 2001. The 17-track highlights recording features Juan Navarro as The Phantom, Irasema Terrazas as Christine and José Joel as Raoul. Some members of the Mexican cast and orchestra will travel soon to Buenos Aires, where this production will open later this year. The Really Useful Theatre Company Ltd, MAT Theatrical Entertainment Ltd, OCESA Presenta and Morris Gilbert are the producers of the show, which will be presented in Spain and Brazil after the Buenos Aires run.

The CD of the Mexican Phantom is available through Footlight Records in New York City.
