News Phantom Killer Opens Off-Broadway Jan. 31 Jan Buttram's Texas-set thriller Phantom Killer officially opens Off-Broadway Jan. 31 at the Abingdon Theatre Company.

Abingdon artistic director Buttram authored the play that is directed by Jules Ochoa. Phantom Killer began previews Jan. 22 and runs through Feb. 14 in the Dorothy Streslin Theatre.

The cast features Wrenn Schmidt, Denny Bess and Jon McCormick. The premiere has set design by David B. Ogle, costume design by Kimberly Matela, lighting design by Travis McHale and sound design by David Margolin Lawson.

According to press notes, "On a scorching hot Texas night in 1946, Luke parks on a deserted country road with his new wife Jessie. A Texas Ranger searches the same road, hunting a serial killer."

Buttram's plays include Texas Homos; Glory Girls; The President And Her Mistress; Zona, The Ghost Of Greenbrier; Private Battles; and The Parker Family Circus.
