The evenings are simply titled Back to Brooklyn and feature special guests Italian singing group Il Volo, trumpeter Chris Botti and Streisand's son, actor-director Jason Gould.
Streisand, who is backed by a 60-piece orchestra, is also joined by a Brooklyn youth choir. In addition to Streisand signatures, a rarely performed radio hit and a selection from her new recording "Release Me," the evening also boasts a medley of tunes from the classic musical Gypsy. Streisand and Richard Jay-Alexander direct.
In a previous statement Streisand said, "Brooklyn to me means the Loew's Kings, Erasmus, the Yeshiva I went to, the Dodgers, Prospect Park, great Chinese food. I'm so glad I came from Brooklyn — it's down to earth. I guess you CAN come home again.”
Streisand will also play Montreal, QC (Oct. 17 at the Bell Centre); Ottawa, ON (Oct. 20 at the Scotiabank Plaza); Toronto, ON (Oct. 23 at the Air Canada Center); Chicago, IL (Oct. 26 at the United Center); Las Vegas, NV (Nov. 2 at the MGM Grand); San Jose, CA (Nov. 5 at the HP Pavilion); and Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 9 and 11 at the Hollywood Bowl).
Streisand is an artist in multiple disciplines. She is an award-winning actress, recording artist, concert performer, film director, producer, screenwriter, songwriter, philanthropist, designer, photographer, author and activist. Streisand is the only artist ever to receive an Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts and Peabody Awards as well as France's Legion d'Honneur and the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the recipient of two Oscars, five Emmys, 10 Grammys, a Tony and 12 Golden Globes including the Cecil B. DeMille Award. She is also the first female film director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. The three films she directed received 14 Oscar nominations.
