News PHOTO CALL: 2010 OBIE Awards Ceremony Tony Award winners Michael Cerveris and Anika Noni Rose co-hosted the 55th Annual Village Voice OBIE Awards, honoring Off-Broadway theatre May 17 at New York City's Webster Hall.

The Village Voice OBIE Awards honor excellence in every aspect of Off-Broadway theatre. The OBIE Awards publish no nominations, and judges may give multiple OBIEs in any category, or even invent new categories, to reward exceptional artistic merit. There are no strict categories for the awards. This year, the committee recognized Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation and The Aliens as the Best New American Play as well as Performance honors to the Ensemble of Circle Mirror Transformation (Reed Birney, Tracee Chimo, Peter Friedman, Deirdre O'Connell, Heidi Schreck), Dane DeHaan (The Aliens), Jonathan Hammond (The Boys in the Band), Marc Damon Johnson (The Brother/Sister Plays), Laurie Metcalf (A Lie of the Mind), Wendell Pierce (sustained excellence of performance), Juliet Rylance (As You Like It) and Rocco Sisto (sustained excellence of performance).
