News PHOTO CALL: A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick at Playwrights Horizons The world premiere of Kia Corthron's A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick, the tale of an African preacher-to-be visiting rural America, plays Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons.

Chay Yew directs a company that includes Keith Eric Chappelle (Cyrano de Bergerac), William Jackson Harper (Ruined), Joshua King, Kianné Muschett and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Nine).

According to Playwrights Horizons, "In A Cool Dip, an African preacher-in-training (Harper) comes to a drought-stricken rural American community to further his studies in religion and water conservation. He stays with a mother (Taylor) and daughter (Muschett) haunted by personal tragedy and takes a special interest in a young orphan (King) starved for guidance. In the face of all obstacles he maintains an infectious, unstinting optimism determined to battle — by any means necessary — the personal and political forces that threaten the ecology of his new home."
